Angela Zutavern, Managing Director at AlixPartners, is a highly regarded leader with more than 25 years of experience in artificial intelligence (AI) and other digital technologies. She pioneered the machine intelligence and data science solutions that are now helping hundreds of organizations drive their business strategies, make better decisions, and gain competitive advantages. Angela led advanced AI and data science R&D efforts, including in the areas of deep learning and quantum machine learning. She is passionate about data science for social good and helped create the Data Science Bowl, a first-of-its-kind, world-class competition to solve global issues through AI. Angela co-authored the book The Mathematical Corporation: Where Machine Intelligence and Human Ingenuity Achieve the Impossible, a CEO Reads Business Book Awards recommendation. Her book explores how organizations and their leaders can beat the competition by coupling human strengths with the mathematical power of AI. A frequent speaker on the future power of data science to media, academia, and industry, she moderated the Chief Data Officer (CDO) Council for the U.S. federal government community. She is also actively involved in strengthening diversity and inclusion, especially in technology, and is an enthusiastic champion of women in data science. Angela has worked with Fortune 500 companies across every major industry including manufacturing, healthcare, energy, automotive, retail, restaurants, and travel. In addition, Angela has advised every major U.S. government cabinet-level department. She earned her bachelor of science degree in industrial and systems engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and her MBA from Southern Methodist University.
